Week one of 2017 is in the bag and you've probably stumbled across countless goal-setting, new years resolutions, and life-hack articles already. While I usually avoid these articles I understand why they are written and their subsequent popularity. People want to become the best version of themselves, right?
What I do in when I sit down to mentally mind map the year ahead is ask myself one question. Why? Why am I going after X goal? If the answer is because of love, then I'm headed in the right direction. If it's for popularity, vanity, accolades etc. then it's going to be a year fraught with frustration and disappointment. Doing something out of love and putting in the time brings out the best in all of us.
That big goal we want to achieve is percolating in our minds as we start the year with a blank slate.
A few things I've learned over the years:
- the journey towards the dream far exceeds arriving at the destination.
success will not teach you anything, failure will.
you can't get back the moments that have passed you by, you only have the now, so use it well.
there will be steps forward and steps back, but as long as your in motion you are living.
overnight success is a myth, work hard and with consistency.
only take on three major projects in the year
take a day off once a week to rest and recharge.
If you are feeling stuck in your life, irrespective of your circumstances, there resides in you the untapped ability to bring out your best, most authentic self.
Cheering for you in 2017!
