These past two weeks have been busy, mainly because I am trying to self-promote the book. Ugh, it really is tiring and not fun. I mean, who wants to talk about themselves a lot? This morning we had some talented friends over to film a short snippet that will go out around the time of the official book launch on Amazon (March 11th, stick it in your diary!). The idea was to look at changes in my life, how they happened and the journey I went on. I was enjoying the experience until the very end when my friend, Josh, asked me to tie-up the story. I went around the point in various different ways and I knew what Josh wanted from me to get the shot. The problem I had was that it was all about me. I was just sitting there like a talking head, not listening to my heart or the Spirit. I got out of my chair and walked around for five minutes, focussing on what I wanted to convey. Sitting back down, I let my mind go blank to think of the joy I feel every day. Then it all came to me. By focussing on God and on others, I removed myself from the equation and was able to be authentic and real. It's the same with the book, it feels like a chore to broadcast about me, me, me all the time. But when it testifies to the grace of God in my life, then I'll shout it from the roof-tops.
If you would like to receive The Second Lap newsletter, just add your email address to the updates box on the sidebar. It is a more regular way of getting info and far more personal, I find. Otherwise twitter is also helpful, too. The book launch party will be on March 14th, in Paris and all the details are here. Thanks for all your continued support. You will finally be able to buy the book two weeks from today!
